Bottle, from historic notes. From Sainsbury's Warren Heath. Poured dark amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, fruit, bread and nut. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body. Seem to have quite enjoyed this.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before Feb 2008 drank July 2007, brewed for the Sainsbury supermarket chain. Whenever I buy a supermarket only beer I worry, will this one be better than the norm? Read on and find out. Poured into a Corsendonk tulip glass, which it didn’t fit into, so i had two glasses. Terracotta in colour, with a tight off-white head, bubbles rising through the bright clear liquid. The head did shrink away as I drank, but not overly fast. Rich biscuits and malty sweetness hit your nose, toffees as well, it smells good. It reminded me of an old traditional sweet shop smell, all goodness and big jars of little things that rotted my teeth. The malt is in the taste too, but the sweetness has gone from the aroma leaving a dryer beer than I expected from the smell; bet it would rot my teeth though, if I left them in the beer overnight! The mouthfeel is a bit thin for a 6.5% beer, but apart from that it is one of the best supermarket only beers I have ever had.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Complex beer - hint of smoke. Stronger tones of malt and caramel. Slight fruit. Slighty sweet, certainly not bitter. Long finish.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, Wychwood yeast, and fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, fruit, nuts, and yeast - typical for Wychwood, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.

Bottle, 6.5%. Fruity aroma. Clear amber colour, unstable head. Quite malty flavour, but also quite grainy. The grain gives it a distinct sourness which is only partly hidden by the sweetness.

Bottled. Orange colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, wood and quite glueish notes. Flavour is quite much the same. A bit out of balanced.
