Cask at the PoW, Farnborough. Aroma combines chocolate and coffee with a sour berry edge. Opaque cola brown. Thin creamy beige head gradually retreats to the rim. Initial molasses sweetness. This is then bumped aside by sour berries and lemon. Although the sweetness remains in the undertow. Medium bodied. A thin creamy mouthfeel. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Decent if uncomplicated stuff.

Cask at Brewery Tap, Chester Not much nose – just a little maltiness. Pours a rich dark ruby red, with a small white head. In the mouth dark fruits and sweetness predominate, with hints of chocolate and raisins there as well. Finish is sweet and fruity as well. Very drinkable. A classic mild – I wouldn’t call it a “strong” beer though !

Lively brown beer, no head. Looks grim. Light malt aroma. Taste slightly malty, a dash of chocolate, some caramel. I like a mild and could happily drink a load of this.
