NEPO 9 Years Anniversary is an Imperial Baltic Porter celebrating its 9th anniversary. This beer, matured in whisky barrels, was then enriched with cocoa, coffee beans, and other ingredients, giving it a unique, rich flavor profile. 375ml bottle. Jet black colour with slightly late awakening, small to average, very dense, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Roasty and slightly chocolately, dark malty and slightly caramel malty aroma, notes of coffee, mocha, dry cocoa, some dark caramel, BA overtones with a minimally woody, peaty touch of whisky. Taste is roasty, chocolately, dark malty, sweet-ish, caramel malty, notes of coffee, mocha, cocoa, espresso, sugared espresso, some dark caramel; BA overtones appear not until the finish, with slightly tannic, woody, oaky hints of whisky.
Minimally viscous, but overall surprisingly relatively thin, still watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying, simultaneously minimally dry palate, fine, dense, creamy, mildly prickly carbonation.
Well crafted, nice composition, superb coffee flavours; the finish is sadly minimally spoiled by non-integrated, if not mismatching BA flavours - nevertheless very good overall.
