Bottle from Morrisons. Given the powerful name and elaborate bottle I expected better than the bland tasting slightly dry lager that’s clearly stronger than but perhaps lesser than regular cobra. Has a weak pale golden appearance with a small bubbly head that disappears fast. Aroma is slightly sweet.

Bottle at Craig’s. Clear golden yellow, thin white head. Aromas of cereal and grains. Taste is sweet, something herbal. Sticky finish. OK, inoffensive enough.

Bottle at Balti Cuisine, Cardiff on 4 January 2014. Poured a slightly hazy yellow straw colour with a fluffy white head. Aroma of bread dough, lemon zest and grassy hop. Mild citrus flavour with some bready malt and soft fruit. Pretty smooth beer; carbonation was gentle and natural, rather than the aggressive force carbonation of the regular Cobra and its ilk. Finish was yeasty with some pilsner malt and a mild metallic edge. Fairly drinkable, if not mind blowing and probably the best thing you’re likely to find in an Indian restaurant, beer-wise.

Zawirowania gdzie to produkowane i rozlewane? Wszystko to nieistotne. Liczy się smak i wrażenie. A to piwo robi piorunujące. Butelka szampanowa i elegandzka zlotawa etykieta.

In July 2010, I wrote this: Sold in the UK as ’King Cobra’, it costs £6.75 for the regular 0.75 Litre bottle at one of my local Indian restuarants (about $10.00). The two 0.75L Cork and Caged bottles from last night were poured into four champagne flutes and topped up fairly often as we drank our way down the bottles. Light, lemony yellow with a slight haze, especially at the lower end of the bottle (no bits, but obviously some light sediment is in the base of the bottles. Lively head in the pour, but no staying power. The smell is of Belgian yeasts, interesting but not strong. The beer is really a strong lager in taste and feel, I like it and for the price is good value. Not sure it is in the correct style cat, but it isn’t a bad beer at all.
