Between 1952 and 1958 hundreds of nuclear tests were conducted at The Nevada Test Site. Almost all of these tests were conducted above ground and were more focused on the functionality of the explosive devices than the effects on their surroundings. In 1953, however, the Upshot-Knothole series of tests were conducted and shifted the scientific focus to the effects these nuclear explosions were having on their surroundings.....especially people. Notably, the Upshot-Knothole series of tests included the first testing of a nuclear artillery shell. Imagine a nuclear weapon fired from a cannon!!! Thankfully, not many of these types of tests were carried out. Here, we use our penchant for BIG beers, to focus our attention on people as well (you the craft beer drinker) and we use the "canon" of our brewhouse to discharge another great beer. This smooth, rich, Imperial Porter drinks way easier than it should, but despite the 11% ABV, it won't put you in harm's way.
