This red ale is a take on a style that's undergoing a bit of a renaissance these days. As a base, we used a blend of Pilsner and specialty malts--most notably Weyermann CaraRed--to create a layered malt profile. We selected some really nice lots of Chinook and Centennial grown by Champlain Valley Hops in Vermont to lend notes of fresh pine and citrus zest. Pouring a mahogany red hue, Crimson Crown is crisp and refreshing without sacrificing depth of flavor. Subtle aromas of bread crust and cedar blend with flavors of Earl Grey tea, sweet biscuits and dried apricots. Pours and drinks clean.
