Armada Ale was one of the first new 'Golden Ales' that emerged in the 1980s. It has a pronounced yet balanced hop character, derived from Fuggle and Golding hops. Originally commissioned by the National Maritime Museum, it quickly established itself as a piece of living history. Robust, refreshing and still a port of call in any beer-drinker's voyage of discovery.

Cask at The Pilot, Maidstone, Kent. I thought this was excellent as I wasn’t expecting it to be as nice as it was. A light amber colour with some good fruit flavours and some flowery floral hops Bottle 275ml from brewery shop. Filtered and pasteurised. I like the Armada on cask so I was interested to see how it stood up in bottle form. Copper colour with thin beige head. Normally yeasty and tangerine citrus, but this is toffeeish. Soft sit up and beg hop on finish. Nowhere near as good as on cask 535312.

Cask conditioned: An orange beer with no head. It has a slight aroma of fruit. The flavor is a pretty dry hoppy aroma - with a very well rounded sweetness. Really a great beer with a fantastic hoppy flavor.
