Pours dark brown from the bottle and leaves a thin bubbly head that soon disappears. Aroma is fine caramel malt mixed with rubbing alcohol from the medicine cabinet. Hmmm. Flavor is lightly sweet, malty, but thin and uneventful; not much here to hold the interest.The bitter twist at the end is swept away by a discordant alcohol finish. Unbalanced. There are lots of good German Doppelbocks, but this is not one of them.

0,5 l bottle from kappldav123. Thanks a lot. Dark brown in the glass, small light beige head. Malt an ripe fruity on the nose. Taste starts dark malty, ripe fruits, but also alcoholic sharpness in the background. Little bit bitterness. Roasted malt and alcohol in the afteraste. Expected more.

Bottle from Maruhn. Clear dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and a little dark sugar. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. 131214

Der Antrunk ist süßlich-vollmundig. Zum Hauptteil hin entfaltet sich eine schön malzig-fruchtige Note – dunkle, reife Früchte. Ganz leichte alkoholisch-vergorene Note spürbar. Der Nachgeschmack ist ganz leicht scharf, relativ süß-malzig und leicht klebrig. Auch tritt hier eine leichte Herbe zu Tage, die sich gut in den Gesamtkontext einfügt.
→ Netter Doppelbock, dem aber etwas an Aromentiefe und –vielfalt fehlt! 10+11+10+10

500ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmmalzig, schokoladig, fruchtig. Geschmack röstmalzig süß mit leichter Fruchtigkeit, leicht schokoladig.

50cl bottle. Thanks to David -Cervezorama 2.0-. Brown colour with a initial good formation of a medium beige head that quickly diminises. Aroma is malty, light alcohol and caramel. Flavor is toasty, malty, caramelish, with notes of nuts and alcohol in the final. Carbonation and body are medium.

Sweet with some flavors of dried fuits (prunes, raisins). Deep brown color (reddish against the light) with tiny brown head. Aroma is also sweet. Smell and taste give no hint to the high ABV. Smooth, mellow and easy to drink despite is strength....

Clear brown, scant off white edge head. Aroma of caramel and smoke. Taste is sweet caramel and toffee with a burnt edge.

Sehr malziger Antrunk, eine alkoholische Note kommt durch, passt aber gut ins Gesamtbild. Im Mittelteil wird mir diese Note allerdings zu stark, es ist hier definitiv dominierend. Schöner ist dann der Nachgeschmack, in dem der malzige Teil weit ausschweift und kaffeeartige Nuancen einnimmt. Außerdem ist das Bier hier sehr würzig, was vorher nur bedingt der Fall ist. Bottle from Le Jardin de Bière, St Just Luzac, France. Deep reddish brown in colour with a decent tan head. Sweet, berry fruit, date and caramel aroma. Sweet, heavy malt flavour with a warming alcohol finish. Good.
