50 cl bottle. BBE 07.12.12, rated on 04.09.2012
Aroma is sourish with roasted notes and chocolate. Flavour is slightly sour with chocolate, coffee and hints of vanilla. Good.

Rated this one into my notebook as I poured some of it on my laptop and had to turn it off

Pours a black color with a brown head. Roasty and malty aroma. Smooth and light, but still full flavor with plenty of malty roastiness. Nice.

500ml flip-top bottle kindly shared by KnutAlbert at the second day of the great Absalon Tasting session. Decent beige head resting on top of a deep, rosewood coloured body. Smell of slightly burnt dark malts. Brittle caramel malts and liquorice in flavour. Gets very sweet in the ending partially offset by some roastiness (Copenhagen, hotel room 13.05.2012).

Bügelverschlußflasche von Stefan: Very deep amber coloured, bigger beaten-egg-white-like tanned head; solid toasty caramelly nose with fruity and mainly chocolatey aromas; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, soft; lingering chocolatey-toasty finish, becomes drier towards the end. Chapeau! An unexpected gem from the GDR.....

bottle from the brewery (mail-order). Deep brown colour, large beige head. Aroma of caramel and chocolate. Full-bodied, malty, lots of caramel and chocolate. Not as dry and cardboardy as many East German Schwarzbiers, this one is well balanced and full of good flavours. A delicious example of the style!
