A cult, complex & wholesome Kentish ale that melds rich, melodious notes of toffee and dark fruit with a piquant, peppery hop profile leading to a dry, mineral-rich finish.
Trivia: The beer takes its name from the finger-shaped signposts which pointed pilgrims on their way to the tomb of Thomas a Becket in Canterbury and was the first strong ale to be brewed by Shepherd Neame after malt rationing was eased in the late 1950s.

A hazed amber ale with an extra thick onctuous light moka head. Light nutty malt aroma, non-descript. In mouth, a light malt with rather metallic hops. Thin bodied, unsatisfying. On tap at JD Wetherspoons, Heathrow, Mid November 2006.

Cask gravity @ Ølfestival Aarhus 2008 @ Charlies Bar.Clear medium red brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lancing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, light to moderate hoppy, grass, pine. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - flat. Clear amber with tiny off white head. Sweet fruity aroma with mild hoppy and caramel notes. Flavor likewise with floral hops and a discrete bitter end.

From cask at Charlies. Pours hazy orange with a copperish glare and an off-white head. Light hoppy and mild acidic aroma. Light sweet and mild fruity flavour. Ends with a decent bitterness and light fruity note.

Cask. An amber beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty and fruity, while the flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, leading to a dry and slightly bitter end.

Cask at The Spanish Galleon, Greenwich. Malty aroma, perhaps underlying fruit. Darkish amber clor witha a large bubble whitish head. Seems a bit thin. Starts lightly malty, but a surge of hp finally appears. The malt is goneby the finish, leaving a relatively dry bitter.

Cask @ Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. Pours a clear dark amber colour with a small off-white head. Malty aroma with some hints of caramel. Fruity malty flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a dry malty finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.
