Aarhus Extra Pilsner is an International Pilsner, brewed exclusively with mild aroma-hops. It was launched as unfiltered beer to Denmark’s Ugliest Festival as “Denmark’s Ugliest Pilsner – with the greatest taste”

The pilsner at 5% is slightly stronger than traditional Danish pilsners, and as a filtered beer, it is known as the ‘Aarhus Extra Pilsner’. It was crowned by the Exchange at a blind tasting of 38 different Danish lager beer to the 3rd best lager in Denmark.
In the case of a beer with 5% alcohol, brewed from pilsner malt, wheat malt and caramel malt. It is like the other beers from Aarhus Brewery exclusively with hoppy aroma hops. Humlingen inspired by the Czech beer, and therefore this beer more bitter than the usual Danish lager.

Bottled. Yellowish golden colour with a mediumsized lacing white head. Aroma is bready malts, rather much diacetyl, some mild grains as well. Flavour is very much diacetyl, some bready malts as well as some grains and mild herbal notes as well. Diacetylbomb in a not too pleasant way.

Draught @ Ølfestival Aarhus 2008.Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lancing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, buttery. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. Wonder is the extra means extra buttery ! (170508)

(Bottle 60 cl) Courtesy of Myrup. Clear, pale golden with a white head. Fresh, hoppy nose. Medium body, sweetish malty with a flowery hopping that also leave quite some bitterness. Surprisingly clean and drinkable for an Århus øl. 311007

60 cL bottle. Pours clear yellow with a lacing white head. Aroma is of a mild bitterhops and somewhat mild citrus fruity aroma. Flavour is lemonish flavoured with nice bitterness and fruityness. Has a mellow finish with a mild blend of some malt and bitterhops.

Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Dry grassy and slight fruity nose. Quite fruity flavour, slight sweetness and not so dry in the finish as the regular pilsner. Fruity finish. Ok brew.
