Bottled. Deep amber colour, small brown head. Aroma is coffee, malts, some roast and mild coffeeish notes. Flavour is very much the same. Also some slight wooden notes as well as some mild herbal ones too.

Cask gravity at Cambridge BF 08. Start of day 2. Black with lasting tan head. Rich roasty stout. Good in mouth, full yet, smooth. Bit of roast coffee. Good bunch of integrated flavours, toasty too. Lovely stout aroma, choc and coffee. Good. Lacks a bit of condition.

Half handpulled cask at Market Porter, London Bridge. Black body with little more than a lacing-head. Roasted, almost peaty, aroma followed by a comprehensive flavour of smoky grain, coffee beans and dark chocolate. Plain bitter ending. Very good mouthfeel, indeed (01.05.2008).

Cask at The Hop Pole pubs Easter Beer Festival, Aylesbury in the company of Loz, Chris O, Ruth, Barry, Lynn 21-03-08 Poured black with tan head. Wonderful roasty nose to this with some roasted nuts. A touch sweeter and thinner than expected but make no bones about this, this is a great stout. Good balance between dryness and sweetness, very simple. Along with Wagtail Black Shuck tried recently this is yet another case of a well done simple English stout, lovely. Had this again, this time at Reading Beer Festival 02-05-08 Once again a great beer and happy to keep this at a 3.9
