(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2009) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee and dark chocolate. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, cocoa, dark bread and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Slightly more than medium body, smooth mouthfeel. Mainly dry. Excellent stout in very nice balance.

Bottled at RBESG 2008. A red-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of herbs, hard roasted malt, leading to a dry and roasted finish.

500ml Bottle - Black in colour. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma with roasted malt. Smooth tasting with coffee and plain chocolate followed nice hoppy and roasted notes. The finish is roasted and slightly creamy with cofee, roasted malt and plain chocolate standing out. Very tasty.

Bottle. It looks quite sexy in the glass, with its dark, dark brown body and a small, firm beige head. The rest of it is unfortunately rather boring. Dried fruits, some licorice and cooked carrots makes the aroma, lacking a lot on the roasted malt. The flavor has a decent taste of burnt malts, with some licorice in the back. Some sour notes too, but it seems they’re not from the malts. Medium body, rather dry. Roasted finish. It seems lightly infected, maybe that’s why I wasn’t impressed at all. (081128)

Bottle (RBESG 2008 in Bohemia): Dark amber coloured, small and persistent brownish head; dry, slghtly metallic, mainly roast-malty nose; quite light bodied, moderate dry bitter flavour; lingering dry bitter roast-malty finish. Good, but a bit thin............
