Created in 2007 and named after a cave perched atop the majestic Cheddar Gorge, Totty Pot carries with it a delightful legend: the cave was unearthed using nothing more than a potty as a digging tool. While various Mesolithic artifacts were discovered, the young son of the cave finder struggled to pronounce "potty" and affectionately dubbed it his “totty pot.”

This multi-award-winning, bottle-conditioned Dark Porter captivates the senses with its rich hints of roasted coffee and a velvety malt finish.

Brewed with the utmost care, it features a blend of the finest Pale Ale, Maris Otter, Chocolate, Crystal, Wheat, and Roasted Malts, harmoniously combined with a selection of English Northdown and Goldings hops.

With an ABV of 4.5%, Totty Pot offers a smooth and indulgent drinking experience that pays homage to its intriguing origins. Enjoy this exceptional brew and let it transport you to the enchanting world of Cheddar Gorge!

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 10th November 2011. Red-black with thin off white head and almost no lacing. Pungent aroma of malt, alcohol and touch of aniseed. Spicy, earthy pungent liquid with a little smokiness and some citric lemon that continues into the aftertaste. Finish is citric. Smooth mouthfeel.

Cask hand pulled at Kitty’s Public House in Helsinki, shared with Matti. Dark-brown coloured body with a low, but lasting, off-white head. Dark malts with a whiff of liquorice to the nose. Dry cheese-like flavour with earthy malts displaying notes of mid-sweet chocolate. Likable but a little to thin for a porter (Sunday pub crawl in Helsinki, 06.02.2011).

(Cask at Kitty’s, Helsinki - shared with Rune) The beer poured black. Its head was small and light brown. Aroma had liquorice and roastedness. Palate was medium bodied and dry. Flavours were burntness, roastedness, mildly liquorices, ash and bitterness. Afertaste was mosly burnt. Again an English porter that’s too burnt for my taste, unfortunately.

Bottle from dad (cheers dad) shared 21.10.10 Pours very dark brown with beige head. This is tangy and fruity but like dad say’s a little bland. It’s fine and inoffensive but that is hardly a ringing endorsement, ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

50cl bottle from Real Ale Ltd, Twickenham, the declared ABV is 4.7%. Mahogany brown with a milk chocolate coloured head; sweet, slightly lactic malt aroma; lightly bodied with rich roasted malts with a light chocolate character, and a lively feeling in the mouth; the finish is dry with a touch of spicy hop. Very drinkable.
