Our Goodens Gold is a unique blend of some of Hampshire’s finest low colour and lightly caramelised malted barley with a selection of British and North American hops. With notes of grassy pine and citrus with a lingering aftertaste, this classic “Golden Ale” has a good level of bitterness and flavour to balance the gravity. The multi award winning Goodens Gold is named after Godwins who farmed the Flower Pots land in the early 19th Century and who famously produced the first Flower Pot pint of ale.

Cask stillage at the brewery. Poured a clear golden colour with a thin white head. The aroma is malt, woody hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, yeasty, light herbal, woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

I didn't even realise that Flower Pots were still going, but this is delicious! A proper cask light bitter, doesn't taste remotely 4.8%. Dangerous

Cask bij Trooper Inn, Froxfield. Goudgele kleur, witte kraag. Licht hoppig, citrus, licht aards, hint van gist, licht boterig op een niet-storende manier, degelijk bitter. Fris, prima.

14th June 2022. Cabin C-234 on Britannia while awaiting to sail away from La Coruna. 500ml bottle; BBE May 2023, bought from Bitter Virtue (Southampton) to drink on the cruise. Clean golden body, white topping. Grainy front to the nose and taste, some mild citrus and floral notes in there too. Pleasant enough without getting me excited.

Cask at Nags Head, Reading. Pours clear gold with a white cap. Aroma: grains, bread, citrus peel. Taste: Light sweet & light to moderate bitter, grains, lemon peel, biscuits, grassy bitterness on the finish. Light body with soft carbonation. Finally I find a golden ale with flavour, this was lovely.

Cask ale, half-pint at Guide Dog. Shared with Finn. Spotty lacing from a bubbly white head, hazed golden body. Smell of mid-sweet grainy fruit. Dough fruity flavours. Mid-sweet fruity finish. Quite alright. (Southampton 21.10.2019).
