Joseph and Sarah Mustill moved their family from England in 1833. They purchased the general store located at Lock 15 on the canal. 3 generations of Mustill’s operated the grocery business until the late 1880’s. 50-75 Canal boats would pass through Lock 15 every day at its peak which made the Mustill Store the busiest grocer in Akron. They were well known along the canal for their fine English Ales.
This English Mild represents a style of beer that may have been for sale by the Mustills. Our rendition is meant to pay homage to this classic beer style. As an easy drinking session beer, this English Mild has a smooth, malty, and slightly nutty mouth-feel with a mild and dry finish.
