The Canal Digger is an Irish-style Red Ale. It has a malty backbone blending Maris Otter and Rye malts to create a smooth mouthfeel with a subtle bite of Rye.
The history of Akron really begins with the Ohio & Erie Canal project started in the early 1820s. An influx of Irish and German immigrants came to the Akron area as laborers to dig the canal and for the promise of the American dream. Canal digging was very hard work and the saying goes "There's a dead Irishman for every mile of the Ohio & Erie Canal."
