Draught at Olutravintola Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Deep ruby red with a tan head; slightly spiced aroma with fruit and malt; complex flavours - stewed fruit, roasted nuts, spices, chocolate; full bodied and smooth; finish is sweet and warming, but also dry with licorice and tobacco. Excellent.

Bottle at Chris_O London bottlefest March 07. Very dark ruby. Thin beige head. Slight sour aroma. Decent malts. Bit disappointing really and I don’t think I liked it as much as the others.

Bottled. Clear, copper-colored beer with a beige, almost tan head. Cloves, roasted malt, christmas-spices and vanilla in the aroma. The flavor has much the same, with cloves, roasted malt and some vanilla. Full to medium body. A nice, christmasy Christmas beer. (070213)

Medium creamy offwhite head. Deep dark brownish red body with some carbonation. Burnt, malty harmonic aroma with cinnamon notes. Deep, balanced burnt wooden taste with vanilla, smoke, and caramel notes. Very well made. Extremely drinkable, considering how unusual it is. Very good. (0.5l bottle.)

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Very dark brown, almost black, colour with foamy, beige head. Roasted, spicy nose with notes of coffee (sweet), brown sugar, clove, cinnamon and nutmeg. Roasted and spicy taste with brown sugar, juniper berries, spruce needles, blueberries, hints of smoke, cinamon, cardamom and a slightly bittersweet finish. Medium to full body, rather sweet. Tasty, a bit too sweet for my taste. Suspect this cask has passed its peak, but I have a couple of bottles in the fridge, so I’ll give it a new try within short. 6/4/7/4/14=3,5 (Rerate, bottle 19 Feb 2007) Dark brown colour with reddish hints. Firm, foamy, pale brown head. Spicy, salty, rather roasted nose with notes of ryvita, brown sugar and hints of orange peel, soy sauce and even some banana. Slightly roasted, spicy taste with notes of chocolate, roasted nuts, ryvita, coffee, dark rye bread and herbs. A lot drier and less fruity than the cask version, with a distinct hoppy bitterness creeping up on you towards the end. Tasty and warming. (Spiced with nutmeg, caraway, clove, vanilla and orange peel according to the label)

[Bottle] Dark brown with a moderate, tan head. Aroma is spicy: nutmeg, cardamom and vanilla. The same spices show up in the flavour as well as hops and some smokiness. A flavourful and balanced beer.

Hazy dark brown ale with a thin off white head. Nice spiced aroma, with sweet malt, ginger and cloves. In mouth, the cloves are more predominant, and the body is lighter than expected. Still an interesting gift from Joris, April 2005. Enjoyed with Capflu. Dank U.
