Pours dark brown almost black with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice, chocolate and star anise. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long licorice finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Sample at SBWF 2012. Black with a small tan head. A lot of spices both in the aroma and taste. Licorice, malt, fruit, some notes of ash, fennel. Rather cool and interesting.

Very dark brown beer. Milky sweet malt nose. Slightly soft palate. Flavour follows the nose with milky sweet malt. Finishes dry with just a hint of toastiness in the finish. Nice.

Black with brown head - aroma of roasted malt - good malt body with roasted malt taste, along with some sweetness in the back that may be from spices - long lingering finish with notes of roated malt bitterness - this was nice

500 ml bottle. Dark amber, practical black, with a fine, thick, lasting beige creamy head. Aroma is chocolate, soft roasted malt, nutty and hint of fruits. Flavor is soft, smooth malt, sweet milk chokolate, gently roasted, coffee, balanced bitterness and hint of fruit. Fine body, long and tasty malt and bitter aftertaste. Smooth and balanced, what I fine Christmas brew. Goes well down any other time of the tear as well.

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, Tromsø. Kullsort. OK luftig, litt farget skum som henger seg på glasset. Sterk søt karamellaroma. Smaken det samme, men også innslag av lakris. Monoton.

0.5l bottle. This one pours a dark dark brown body with a nice quite big and heavy lacing tan head. The aroma is light spicy with lots of chocolate milk, some roasted malts, hops and licorice. Quite nice. Average carbonated with a medium-bodied and oily mouthfeel. Good and hoppy flavors nicely blended with chocolate, roasted malts and some nice hints of both licorice and wood. Ends quite bitter and hoppy before its leaving the mouth quite dry with a nice roasted aftertaste. Good stuff!

Big shiny beige lasting head. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Earthy fruity meaty aroma with dusty herbal notes. Dry-sweet herbal earthy cocoa taste with fennel notes. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Fullish body. Sweetish herbal funnel cocoa aftertaste with buttery licorice and coffee notes. Not bad, and fairly harmonic, but weird. (0.5l bottle, wine monopoly Vika, Oslo.)
