Draft. A dark brown beer with a red shine - not really looking like a stout, under a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate - which is very dominant at first, but when it warms up notes of star anise joins in. The flavor is sweet malty again with strong notes of chocolate, but also with quite strong notes of roasted malt as well as spices in the back ground towards the finish - among them star anise. The finish is dry and very roasted with hints of alcohol. More like a Porter than a stout.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of Myrup. Completely opaque black with a creamy, beige head. Lightly sweet aroma of lightly burned malts. Quite full-bodied with distinct notes of sweet licorice and burned malt. Subdued bitterness. Nice alright. 291107

From tap at Ølbaren. Pours black with a diminished dense chocolate brown head. Thick chocolate, roasted malt and a slight note of liqourice in the aroma. Viscous mouthfeel and full bodied. Flavour starts with a mild and soft chocolate feel before it decends into roasted coffee notes and goes into a nice bitter finish. Great brew but also a bit lazy compared to stuff like Black Hole, Dark Lord and Darkness - but its getting there.

Black with a brown hue, long lasting light brown head. Chocolate and roast malt aroma, much like the regular Midtfyns Stout with added spice. Semisweet with a licorice flavour. Extremely pleasant and holiday-friendly, but for me, a little too spicy in the long run.

Bottle (Had this late september) 50 cl: Dark brown with creamy off white brown head. Aroma is very stout like - roasted/burnt malts chocolate & coffee. Filling body. Somehow a bit buttery sweet. Reminds me of the regular stout from midtfyns with some added christmas spices like Anis & coriander. OK!
