Bottle. Almost black and opague. Creamy aroma with anis and vennel, not too obviously present. Creamy flavor with ash, anis and vennel. Not unpleasant, only the aftertaste is a bit too spicy.

Bottled (BBE 07/2008). Pitch black colour, small brown foamy head. Aroma is liquorice, coffee, roasted malts, smoked wood and also toffee and nuts. Mild spices as well. Flavour is nuts, smoked wood, peat, roasted malts, some herbal notes and old coffee. Big nutty peak in the finish. Long smoked wooden and ashy aftertaste along with mild chocolateish hints.

Bottle. A true black pour with a small tan head. Both aroma and flavor is much the same, and maybe a bit one-dimentional, but still nice. Chocolate dominates, but there’s also some roasted malt and coffee. Medium to full body, quite dry. Nothing Christmas about this beer, at least not in my book, but besides it feeling one-dimentional, it’s a pretty good beer. (080620)
