Back to Black is a dark brown, almost black, beer (9,5 % vol.alc.) that appeals to our imagination. Brewed with an IBU-bitterness of 100, the beer matures on foeder over a period of nine months before reaching it's unique taste.
Taste: This wayward porter brings you the perfect balance between sour- and bitterness.

8 4 7 3 15 Bottle shared at THT. Slight hazy dark mahogany with small beige head. Overripe dark berries, some caramel, old wood, deep hay, old cocoa beans. Light sweet, under medium sour and very bitter. Medium bodied with dry slight puckering feel. Very nice but too bitter for me.

Good yellow-cream head, bit irregular, over deep-brown beer; rings of lace. Contains some very weird UFO’s that come to float UPON the head. Sourish-fruity nose with lactic acid. Wine-drenched wood, old barriques . Hint of madeira, but also balsamico. Liquorice/drop and lactic acid, a marriage of stout and Flemish Oud bruin. Finish is pure fruity oud bruin, but every new sip reintroduces the drop. Acidthinning, quite slick, hint of alcohol all the same, good carbonation. Excellent oud bruin - with just a touch of sweet liquorice stout - which it doesn’t need at all.

Capped 750 from Cave a Bulles. Pours coppery dark brown with a beige/tan head. Smells much like a Flemish sour/brown. With wood. Med ++ body. Flavor is moderately sour with wood and a bit of chocolate. Sort of Flemish sour/brown black. Like black IPA is to IPA - sorta kinda. For me there are some dark pitted fruit notes - like cherry. Not exactly like anything I’ve enjoyed, but it’s really really tasty. It certainly is bitter; it certainly is sour; it certainly has woody aspects. It certainly is great ale.
