"Bartender, if anyone calls, I'm not here, right? Every year it's the same nightmare, hauling that over-sized, red-suited endomorph all over kingdom come, up to my shivering haunches in snow and muck! You call him a Saint? Slave-driver, more like. Going down in history is all well and good, but what about the here and now? My therapist says I have to start doing things for me for a change. It's about time I had a Merry Christmas myself, don't you think?"

Panda at home, thanks to Graham / Grumbo, 30/01/23. Pretty sure I must have had this many years back ... in the ticked but never rated box! Copper to amber pour with a just off white cap. Nose is stewed fruits, toffee, grains, herb, biscuit. Taste comprises fruit cake mix, toffee, herb, straw, toasted grains, dates. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok old skool English strong ... earthy and bitter with a fruity backbone.

21/1/2023. Bottle shared at the first ITFC 2023 beer share. From Beers of Europe. Pours very slightly hazy amber orange with a frothy just off-white head. Aroma of malt, toffee, biscuit, orange, stewed fruit, veg. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness. Moderate body, slightly oily, average carbonation. Light dry and fruity finish. Not bad.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours clear copper-gold with a creamy, white topping. Light-medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted bread, a little honey, toasted caramel, yeast, leaves, dough. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance to finish. Tasty enough.

Bottle from Hilliers Garden Centre, Windlesham. Aroma has sweet but sour fruit, almonds and glue. Golden brown. Fluffy foamy translucent white head. Initial medium sour berries. Some hints of underlying nutty umami. In the finish some low key syrupy sweetness makes a brief appearance but oldschool boiled veg is also present. As I drink more a bitter note appears throughout. Medium bodied. Slick. Fizzy carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish. Basic for the style. I'd like a warming fruit nutty beer but this doesn't achieve that. It's rather low key and would be one noted if it didn't develop the later bitterness.

Bottle. Clear pale orange/light copper with a decent white head. Aroma of apples, plums, biscuits, a hint of citrus fruits and a little bit of marzipan. Taste of malts, apples, raisins, oranges, caramel and a bit of biscuit. Distinctive bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Ok, but I wish it was more balanced and would have preferred if the apple was toned down a notch and the plum/biscuit-part was amped up.

500ml bottle into a UK pint sleeve on 31st Dec 2018. One of the last beers I shall rate this year (some old friends will be drank later). Lovely clear amber/bronze body, off-white head. Malty and semi-sweet over a good hop base, which gives a pleasant woody overtone to the brew, nice 'Winter Warmer' without going 'over the top' spice or alcohol wise. An easy drinking beer all round.

$5.49 pint+ bottle from Wine Warehouse. Pours clear orange-amber with a dusting of a head. Aroma is sweet dark fruit: cherry, plum, raisin; light spice. Has a very winter/holiday aroma about it. Similar to a fruitcake. Flavor is less pleasing than the aroma, but it's not bad. Bitter nuts, plum, raisin, grass, herbs, tobacco.
