We brewed this Special High Gravity Cream Ale in serious celebration of the return of the salubrious Spring... With the long dark days of the Season of Damp nearly behind us and the possibilities of a long languid Summer ahead.

Light caramel and lemon peel aroma with a certain amount of woodiness. Cloudy golden color, thick tan head. Full bodied woody taste of lemon peel and yeast. Subdued caramel and fig finish. Sticky mouthfeel. This is actually a woody ale that I’m not crazy about and I don’t know why.

Unclear copper / orange with a fine white head. The aroma is similar to the other lagunitas products - heavy sweet (caramel) & hoppy. Piney, flowery & soapy. Bitter soapy hops. Oily & sticky palate. Lasting end - and his is is less sweet than many of its "brothers". Good!

Slightly unclear amber with a lasting white head. Wonderful aroma filled with fresh (munich?) malt, bread, caramel, peachy hops. Sweet and heavy flavour with caramel and fruit, quite overwhelming and close to cloying.

Hazy amber orange color. Fluffy beige head. citrusy grapefruit malt nose. Bittersweet malt flavor goes down smoothly. A spicey hop finish balances this ale nicely. Very drinkable.

A very loose head with a deep golden color, pine, brandy, oranges in the nose. The body is mildly hopped with pine and oranges and sweet maltiness (great mt. hood hops character) and then finishing bitter

Pour is a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is is very sweet smelling with some hops in there plus a touch of cream. Flavor is peppery and creamy with some dry citrus hops and a touch of alcohol. Not a bad little beer.

Bottle: Dark golden pour with a modest, creamy white head. Thick lacing. Aroma of hoppy sweetness, mostly citrus and pine. The flavor is more floral in hops with a little pine and overall a dry bitters sensation.

A very strong initial taste impact wallop follows the enticing sweet hints of floral fruity aroma. You better be serious if you are thinking about drinken a couple of these! Good creamy carbonation mixed with a thick syrupy feel. A little darker than the typical pale yellow lager and a higher viscosity. Very difficult high alky flavor. Of course, it is difficult to hide 8%! Pretty acrid malt finish with this high alky stuff. You know this is a strong ale, no questions asked. Like any other strong ale I’ve had the pleasure of tasting, this will probably not be purchased again. I can see why this would gather a high rating on this website. Lagunitas is known for their powerful strong personality brews.

On Draft. Golden amber color. Caramel and slight citrus aroma. Very crisp, and almost creamy flavor. Scratch that, it’s very creamy. Alcohol presence is not noticable at all.
