Most Fridays, after a busy week brewing our regular beers, we like to have a bit of fun and come up with something a little different. And we usually make it up as we go along! This one is a session porter brewed with 30% smoked malt.

Bottle from West Country Ales
Black..no light through.frothy tan head...dissipated to thin layer
Aroma - Smoked roasted malts - not too much...light bacon...bit of burnt wood.
Taste - Light smoked malts..dark malts...dark chocolate...molasses...bit fruity in the background...light smoked wood....plenty of flavour for 4%
Palate - soft carb...thin to medium body...smooth...moderate smoky. Finish as main flavour with a lingering light smoked bacon that is considerably subtler than a rauschbier.....roasted malt..and a bit woody
Overall - A tasty well made moderate smoked porter for 4%

Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Dark brown with a decent tan head. Sweetish aroma of milk chocolates and truffles, with a hint of smoke. Flavour of bitter chocolate and black coffee, with a dry, charred finish. Very good.
