Firstly used by London brewers. They range from deep amber to brown in colour. Caramel and chocolate flavours are evident. Slight bitterness and medium body.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a slightly murky medium brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is yeasty, nutty, herbal. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, nutty, light toffee, herbal, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
