Bottle at Kolding Ølmesse. Poured a slightly pale golden, clear body with a white head. The aroma started with a faint sour touch, but was mostly fruity and malty. Pale malt, a little fruityness and hops in the flavor, medium fullness. Sure not bad, but rather boring. Herslev make some fine beers, but this wasn’t impressive at all. Rating: 5-3-5-3-10-2.6. 080229

Bottle. A slightly unclear one, pale golden in color and with a dense, white head on top. Slightly sourish on the citrusy, fruity nose. Some grains. The flavor is very evidently hoppy, not very bitter but with pinecones. Smooth, medium bodied and semi-dry. Not your regular pilsner, but sure pleasant. 110621

50 cl bottle. BB 09/07: Pours unclear yellow with a lovely white foamy head. Aroma is of -grain/malts & hops. Body is filling & soft - carbonation is medium & pleasant. Fresh taste with a dry bitterness. Very drinkable pilsner!

Bottle. Nice big head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are rich with malt and hops.

Bottle. Unclear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, sour / acidic malt, light hoppy, grass, light yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet, acidic and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. (211107)

Sample from bottle at Slagelse Danske øl Festival and several times before from bottle. Pours almost clear orange/yellow with a white head. Grainy, corn and slight malt aroma. Fruity hoppy flavour semi sweet/dry, nice balance with an underlying malt flavour. Dry bitter finish. One of my favourite danish pilsners.

(Draught at Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen, 18 May 2007) Golden yellow colour, slightly hazy, with white head. Malty nose with notes of spicy hops. Malty, rather bitter taste with lots of spicy hops. Dry, fresh and grassy finish. Very aromatic pilsner.

[Bottle] Hazy golden colour, huge thick head. Honey, dough and hops on the nose. Somewhat sour and fruity flavour. Grassy bitterness. Not the best pilsener I’ve had.

The last of my pilseners from my incredible trade with Engelsmann. Consumed on 6/20/06. And still I marvel at the scores for these Danish pils.....Supremely unfiltered and unpasteurized, this now-well-settled beer decants to a near perfect clarity, with burnished copper and strong golden-brass notes. Mountains of unstoppable head fill the glass and are slow to recede, proving rocky at the top and lacing in large, clumps throughout. A large coating of sediment sits on the bottom of the bottle. Numerous medium-size bubbles rush in a flurry throughout the liquid. Bitter and hoppy in the nose, with some light grassiness and plenty of dry, unripened fruitskins (kiwi, starfruit, nectarine, white grapefruit). Quite startling to the senses, really, with a strong backing of honeyish pils malt and very light toastiness. Crisp yeast beckons on the end and not long can I resist taking a sip. I am greeted by a well-bittered and well-yeasted attack in the flavor. Bitter hops fluidly transition in to crisp lager yeast, carried on by a tight, natural carbonation that all the while draws strength from the sweet pale malts. Medium attenuation levels produce a slightly more sweeter than average pils, but the bitter hops work towards keeping this sweetness in check, while a definite smokiness is noted in passing through the middle. Vanilla and leafy, grassy, herbal hops combine to overwhelm (nearly) the palate as the finely bubbled carbonation resets well the palate at the end of each sip. So intriguing is this grainy, almost smoky, wood-like flavor. Never really seen this before in a pilsener and it really helps set this one apart. Working hand in hand with the hops as they grow more bitter and more dry with breathing. Light lime and lemon notes emerge, mixing extremely cohesively with the sugary pils malts to give a lemon-cake-icing feel on the finish. Sweet, for sure, but wonderfully interesting in both hop and malt flavor, with a crisp, appropriate, biting yeast. No alcohol noted, engaging carbonation.
