Brutal bitter is a imperial bitter and one of the original hazy beers that dates back more than 20 years. Brewed and dry hopped with 100% Rogue Farms Alluvial hops that exhibit flavors and aromas of peach (no fruit added). The malt adds good structure, some nuttiness and provides a deep golden hue.

Bottle from the LCBO. Deep hazy amber with a generous beige head that leaves some good lace. Nose is pine and bread. Not overly bitter and there is a good balance of citrus and caramel. Mouth is medium and quite lively and slick. Bitterness lingers in the long finish but definitely not Brutal levels.

Bouteille 660ml. Couleur orangée trouble, mousse beige laissant une dentelle éparse. Arôme d’agrumes, résineux, houblon. Goût de malt caramel, houblon résineux, bonne amertume, mais moins intense que ce que j’imaginais. Carbonation moyenne, corps moyen-dense.

From Dec 2005

Poured from bottle(room temp) with a quickly diminishing head.
The beer is a cloudy medium gold.

The smell is a wonderful mix of hops and malt...you can just about taste the beer from the aroma alone and you *know* it's gonna be good.

The taste is a wonderful balance of the sweetness and bitterness with the hops taking over in the aftertaste and leaving me wanting more.. That's how drinkable this brew is. A *must* try if you see it in your local store.

On tap at Brewer’s on the Bay. Pours a yellow-gold that is clear with a white head. Aroma and flavor are both grassy. Nice lacing persists throughout the drink.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of hops with fruity and citrus notes. Bitter, hoppy onset, enriched with round, fruity notes and a touch of pine needles. Dry aftertaste. Good.

(650mL bottle from LCBO) Poured a cloudy pale amber, big fluffy white head that left a fair bit of lace. Aroma of grapefruit rind and pith, grass, apricot, bit of pale malt. Taste is grapefruit up front, fairly mellow, malts are not as complex as expected with a bit more wheat than I thought fit the style. Fairly rounded in the middle, bit sweet with some citrus rind character, grassy and lightly bitter on the finish but not as punchy as the name would suggest. Mouthfeel medium-light, carbonation fairly active but fine. This is a decent IPA but it didn’t quite pop for me.
