draft @ ginger. Poured dark but a disappointingly weak taste for a D-bock. Watery I thought. Sixpoint usually misses for me and this was no exception.

Growler from Bellport - These guys don’t attempt lagers very often, so I was anxious to try this one - pours a dark ruby, with a frothy, off-white head that lasts quite some time - aroma of roasted nuts, toffee, a little bit of woody and smoky character, and undercurrents of fruit (raisin, cherry) - the palate is actually a bit brash for a doppel - strong, leafy hops present first, followed by a fairly strong sweetness, which brings with it toffee, cookie dough, raisin, chocolate - the hop bitterness comes back to squash the sweeter flavors near the finish, but there is a lingering doughy quality and notes of roasted nuts, as well as a touch of odd tartness at the very end - I agree with Joe that this was not lagered long enough, and as a result it lacks the smoothness you would expect for the style - the bitterness is also on the high side, but I guess that’s Sixpoint for you - still, if you overlook those things, it’s still fairly enjoyable to drink. (PS - this is an awesome name for a beer)
