Almost black, not quite, thin off-white head. It has a very light roasted aroma and taste and easy to drink.

Cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival 2013 - Le Gothique. Pours clearish brown with a frothy beige cap. Nose of nice chocolate, mellow roast. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate toasted bread, light milk chocolate. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Great condition. Lightly earthy and dry to finish with more chocolate character. Rich but mellow and very well balanced.

Cask gravity at Wandsworth Halloween fest. It pours very dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is earth, light roast, toast, smoke and toasted sesame. The taste is toasty, earth, caramel, cola, light bitterness, cocoa and coffee with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Flavoursome and very drinkable stuff. A top notch mild.

Bottle at The Inn Beer Shop, Southport. Pours black, some head. Nice looking beer. Aroma not very appealing, however proved a very nice drink overall. Nutty roasted chocolate, good body, moderate carbonation.

Small, yellow-beige head over ruby to brown beer. Chocolatey, chocolate malts, cacao nose, maltsyrup, smelling sweet. Nicely balanced taste with sweet, bitterish and even slightly acidic (mainly the CO², probably). Chocolate malts, wafflesyrup, but nowhere cloying. Again cacaopowder retronasal, wood and liquorice. Light body, well carbonated without becoming fizzy. SLighlty velvety, sticky texture backthroat. Good, drinkable mild, way better than the nose suggested. Haven’t got a clue where this one hailed from. Alvinne beershop??

Cask-conditioned at the Three Judges, Glasgow 17/06/10. Almost black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Charred malt aroma, with bitter chocolate and a trace of dark fruit. Easy drinking with more chocolate, roasted malts and a light, bitter finish. Very good.
