500ml wax-dipped bottle purchased from the brewery at their 6th anniversary cellar sale - cloudy ruby pour - looks rather still - nose presents rather traditional - quite sweet, with a lot of fig and treacle, moderate oxidation/ sherry notes - feels mostly flat in the mouth, but the body is still quite full/chewy - treacle sweetness is offset by mild acidity and oxidation - whiskey is present but doesn’t overpower - there are slight hints of developing leathery funk way in the back, along with the faintest hints of acetic acid - sit on thing long enough, and this is gonna be a “sour” barleywine- for now, it’s fairly solid - don’t think it will be as good if those other qualities develop further, though.
