Gezapft im Brauhaus in München. Dunkle klare Bernsteinfarbe. Braune Krone. Aroma: Banane, Dörrobst, Rosinen, Hefe. Geschmack: Malzsüsse, Karamell, etwas Schokolade, Dörrobst, dunkle Früchte. Stark aber leicht.

Bottle 0.5l. Almost clear, dark amber colored. AROMA- yeast, toasted malts, pleasant alcohol, raisins, dark fruit. FLAVOR- smooth, neutral to slightly sweet, lightly warming, bread crusts, yeast, fruity, plums, apple, raisins, cumin. Fuller bodied.

Bottle (from earlier notes). Pours clear amber with sizable foamy off-white head, caramel-vanilla aroma, high carbonation, mildly bitter caramel malt taste with raisin, vanilla and honey flavor, thin body, long finish. Balanced and nicely flavored.

Rerate because this is turning into a favourite. Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy brown, red hue, with a small, foamy, slowly thinning, tan head. Aroma of dried banana, sweet grape, raisin, green tea, perfume for tea, brioche, prune, chocolate, toffee, 'pomme d'amour', pistachio, port, clove, cinnamon, gingerbread, vague smoked ham even. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, chocolate & toffee buried underneath lots of candied fruits (banana, prune, red apple, sweet grapes), wrapped in brioche, spicy & herbal bitter accents of clove, pepper, faint cinnamon, green tea, a bit toasty & nutty. Retronasally perfumed effect, only a tad phenolic. Those aspects linger in the dryish, herbal, slightly peppery hoppy finish, next to dried fruits, caramel, brioche; elegantly warming dash of alcohol (liqueur, port wine). Lovely, subtle yet complex. Original rating: 8/3/8/4/17=4.0
