A full bodied, well rounded premium bitter, amber in colour, clean in taste. Fruit hop aroma leading to a pleasant, dry rewarding finish.

500ml bottle direct from brewery. Eye - clear copper, small off white head, ok retention. Nose - big caramel notes (they list as a separate adjunct), a little nutty, stone fruits. Taste - follows nose, again big caramel, quite sweet, figs and plums. Moderate bitterness. Palate - close to medium body, wet yet chewy, carbonation zing on tongue but not overdone. Overall - its a nice tasty simple clean bitter. Maybe a touch sweet for some but I liked it.

On cask at the Real Ale Tavern, Bewdley. Appearance - Amber to copper. Cream head. Nose - toast, toffee and light Bourbon biscuit. Taste - honey, toffee and caramel. Chocolate edge to it. Palate - close to medium bodied, creamy middle. Sweetish finish. Overall - a bit sweet for an ESB but nice all the same.

Cask in Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford Pours the classic โbitter brownโ with a small white head. The aroma is pretty much absent, but in the mouth there are hops, malts and toffee combined with some fruit. Finish is bitter, but not overwhelmingly so. A good standard bitter to round of my first visit to a pub for three months !

Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Slightly hazy amber/copper. Strong malt in the aroma, along with raisins, forest floor and sourdough. A bit of astringency. The taste is an improvement on the aroma: sweetness with a wallop of sour-bitter thrown in. A hint of woodsmoke in the finish. Fruity, bittersweet aftertaste. Medium body, slightly oily.
