Our Head Brewer has combined the finest East Anglian Ale malted barley with a subtle blend of Crystal Malt and Caramalt with McMullen’s own pure spring water. The addition of whole leaf Fuggle, Bramling Cross and Golding Hops at different stages of the brewing process gives a golden bitter with hints of citrus and spicy berries for a well balanced beer.

Handpull cask at the George IV, Sawbridgeworth. Ruddy golden with a light creamy head. Sulphur is noticeable in the aroma but there’s also praline, butter rum, orange peel. Taste is standard malty bittersweet with light clove and buttered toast notes. More bitter/astringent in the finish but there’s a moreish bready sweetness in the aftertaste. A really well-made best bitter. I could drink a few pints of this.
