Our Head Brewer has combined the finest East Anglian Ale malted barley with a subtle blend of Crystal Malt and Caramalt with McMullen’s own pure spring water. The addition of whole leaf Fuggle, Bramling Cross and Golding Hops at different stages of the brewing process gives a golden bitter with hints of citrus and spicy berries for a well balanced beer.

Cask at the Salibury, Hertford on 3rd Sept 2010. Clear amber with thin offwhite decaying foam head. Malty aroma then hoppy flavour burst with grassiness and herbiness. Mildly bitter towards finish that is shortish in duration but hoppy. Hint of fruitiness in finish. Light mouthfeel.

Hazy deep blond color. Breadish aroma and flavor, quite simple and weak. Low bitterness. Forgettable.

Cask, 4.3%. Clear chestnut colour. Citric fruit flavour. God, this is horribly dull.

[Cask at the Old Beams, Milton Keynes] Oh dear, oh dear, this was dismal. My overall impression was weak and watery - a little earthy hops, but predominantly wet dishcloths and old socks. Like a cask bitter from a macro brewer who can’t really be bothered to put any effort into it. Very surprised at the relatively high rating on here, so perhaps it was just me?

Cask (Nagˇs Head, Covent Garden): Deep golden, long lasting, mid-sized head, juicy-fruity, malty nose with a dominant "english" hoppy touch, quite light bodied, solid dryish hoppy flavour, lingering, mainly dry bitter finish. O.K, not bad..........
