From tap at the brewpub, november 2008, 6.8%. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Sweet malty and liqourice aroma. Bitter sweet flavoured with a smooth sweet liqourice base flavour. Quite dominant yet still sweet liqourice on the back of the tongue. Sweet lasting impression in the finish. Fluid sweet liqourice.7-3-7-3-13=3.3

A deep red beer with a fine brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of malt and licorice. The mouthfeel is soft and the flavor is sweet malty with notes of licorice. It has a dry end from roasted malt.
Earlier Rating: 3/10/2004 Total Score: 3.3
The aroma is faint but sweet with notes of Apollo yeast and licorice. THe color is very dark red and it has a beutiful beige head. The flavor is sweet with notes of licorice dominating but also roasted malt (more than in their oatmeal stout), cane sugar, and apollo yeast. The end is rather hoppy dry and the mouthfeel is smooth and a bit watery. It is served too cold for my liking.
