Cask @ Cockney pub, Århus. Pours black with small light brown head. Aroma of roested malt, chocolate, coffee. Taste is much like aroma with some caramel and light smoke added. Full body, low carbonation. Fairly easy drinking for that ABV, good. 220111

50 cl cask. Black body with big lasting creamy head. Flavour is roasted malt, coffee and chocolate.

Draft at Rustico in Alexandria VA. Pours a deep dark black with a small brown head that dissipates. Aroma is dark roasted malts, with a touch of sweetness. Flavor is roasted coffee, malts, element of sweets and some smoke. Pretty well refined, smooth and easy to drink - alcohol content packs a punch but is not noticeable.

Cask at the Copenhagen beer festival. Poured black with a small brown head. Aroma consisted of dark roasted notes. Flavor was dark with roasted coffee flavor. Lacking something a quite conservative for me.

Had this again at home after a dirty homemade Chinese Curry, Thursday 20th November 2025 after listening to Huw Stephens on 6Music Round Table and the sad news that Mani from the Stone Roses has passed away today. Once I saw that I'd had this before I neglected to take further notes, however my recollection from last night that this was very smooth, creamy mouthfeel, deceptively easy drinking for the abv and a solid, straightforward Impy' Stout that I enjoyed better second time around after a 17 year gap. Score 7.3

Bottle picked this bottle up in Denmark, Sept 2008 consumed 2nd Nov 2008. Pours black with beige head, big roasted and burnt malts dominate the nose with just a slight element of sourness. Sweeter in the mouth than expected, but roasted malts again and some light smokiness, bit of coffee and liquorice. Score 6.8

Strong aroma, dark fruits mainly. after it warms up i also get coffee. dark brown, light brown head. flavor dark fruits, banana, coffee, some boose flavor that i disliked, but only when cold, was better when warmer. actually it does not taste entirely like a porter, more like an aged beer of some sort. or a mix. For an aged beer it is very very good.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Midlothian. Dark black body with a medium creamy dark tan head. Chocolate and molassas aroma. Dark chocolate flavor, molassas, very little hop flavor, but a firm hop bitterness. Medium body, slightly thinner than I expect for an imperial stout, Medium low carbonation.

Cask at Spuyten Duyvil - nice black beer, with a serious tan head - odd aroma of lavender, licorice, coffee - quite smooth and creamy, though much of that is probably from the cask - the flavor is strongly smoky up front, followed by some bitter coffee ground flavor - at first, the beer is an odd combination of tobacco, old tire, and some rubber/phenolic/band-aid flavor - rather off-putting - oddly enough, once the beer gets around room temp, this rubbery quality disappears - the tobacco and strong coffee flavor remain, along with some creamy vanilla, and persistent smoke - unique but not entirely interesting floral character, and some fruity touches - weird, but it grew on me.

Black with creamy light brown head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, liquerice and coffee. Same goes for the flavor.Ends mild bitter.

50 cL bottle. Pours deep dark brown with a dense and light brown head. Roasted malt aroma. Notes of chocolate, coffee and with a mild orange fruity note. Flavour starts roasted but also sweet. Mild fruity note intermixing with a soft chocolate flavour. Smooth mouthfeel as well. Goes into a really solid roasted and bitter finish and a mild warming alcohol note. Very nice brew.
