nett malzig-süßlich, schön rund, weich. malzig mit leicht alkoholischer Note. --> sehr lecker!

Mahogny color. Very malty nose of earth, cherries, wood, chocolate. Full rounded body with ton of earthiness. Superb. Full bodied, rich. Heavy for the alchol. A true winter warmer. Full bodied, earthy, woody finish. Nice.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Nairn
Chestnut brown, slightly off white frothy head, minimal lacing.
Aroma of dark sweet malts, caramel malt, fruity - raisins, hint of spice, molasses, warming alcohol
Taste is quite complex.....rich complex malts - dark sweet malts, caramel malts, hint of roast malt, bit of christmas pudding, raisins, alcohol infused fruits, bit of plum, alcohol well hidden
Finish of sweet fruity malt...smooth ..soft carb...medium oily slight sticky malt body...cleans well with a bit of warming alcohol
I’ve ignored this at Tesco for a long time but this is a superb Scottish ale, very close to the Traquair ales. ’English Strong Ale’ ?????.......perhaps it’s the hops.....

Med en liten reservation för att denna inte var helt okej. Lågt skum, maltig syra, i princip bara maltsmaker någonstans mellan syrligt och sött. Lite platt dessutom.

Bottle from Tesco Danestone, Aberdeen. It pours clear reddish-brown, with a medium foamy beige head and moderate to high carbonation. The nose is chocolate, sweaty sock, dark fruit, raisin, currant and some bubblegum. The taste is raisin, currant, plum, chocolate, decent bitterness, tangy raspberry, strawberry, blackberry, wood, smoke, Christmas pudding and alcohol warmth, with a dry-tangy fruit finish. A very pleasant strong ale indeed.

From Peckhams, Glasgow. Copper with a slight, off-white head. Rich malty aroma with red fruits, caramel, nuttiness and a trace of marmite. The flavour was less complex: Sweet, bready malts, treacle, a slightly vinous edge and plenty of alcohol in the finish. Very enjoyable.

500 ml bottle in Edinburgh. Medium amber-brown color with a tall, fine head. Rather sweet aroma, fruity, slightly roasted, with caramel and noticeable alcohol. Great malt flavor, with caramel and dark fruits. Sweet but very well balanced by roasted malts, hops, and a slightl sour-citrus aspect. Tangy, dry, sweet-and-sour finish. Fantastic.

03/03 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Doggythedog, thanks for sharing! It poured brown to reddish body with medium sized head that was going away pretty slowly. Weaker but fine malty caramel aroma spiced with some oak wood. Flavor was malty as well, mostly fruity and caramelly which was passing to licorice character. Wood is felt as well, alcohol is not. Pretty full bodied with very nice, long sweetish finish that was maybe more complex than the pretty simple flavor itself. Chocolate and some herbs showed up. Pretty simple, but really a pleasant ale.
