Copenhagen beer festival. Clear brown beer. Rich malts but not much else. Dry palate. Standard stuff and dry to boot!

500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark. ABV is 7.9%. Unfiltered. Dark brown colour, big beige head. Pleasant sweetish aroma with notes of malts, loads of caramel and old sherry or port. Hints of oak and leather. Sweet malty flavour, notes of oak, old sherry or port again, plenty of caramel but the sweetness is not cloying. Very moderate hops, a little more would not hurt. Still, a reasonably good beer as it is.

Bottled. Ambery brown colour with mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is some mild toasted notes along with strong maltyness and some alcohol. Mild wooden notes as well. Flavour is quite much the same, with alcohol mainly showing as a slightly stinging sweetness. Balanced Doppelbock. As it warms up some liquorice also shows up.

Medium brown head doesnβt last. Hazy dark red body. Earthy nutty syrupy aroma with vinuous notes. Dry-sweetish alcoholic papery wooden notes. Noticeable alcohol heat. Full body. Dry straw, caramel, and paper aftertaste with nutty hoppy peppery notes. Astringent wooden taste lingers. Quite nice, if a bit subdued, and somewhat muted by (I assume) aging. (0.5l bottle from SuperBest, Copenhagen.)

50 cL bottle. Pours brown with a light brown and slight creamy head. Light roasted caramel malt, slight sweetness. Medium bodied. Sweet caramel/canesugar flavoured. Slight wineous and quite fruity. Very delicious, svaneke yeast flavours completely gone from this in 2007.
