Jona & Gold is een op whiskyvaten gelagerde Barley Wine met rijke aroma’s van vanille, frisse appel en een vleugje rood fruit. Bottle @ Mathews Tasting. Pours reddish dark coffee brown with medium off-white head. Aroma is intense cocoa, dark chocolate, dry tobacco, ground coffee, cherry seeds, and black tea. Taste is very sweet, and light to medium bitter. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of prunes, raisins, dark chocolate, cocoa, cream, oak and vanilla. Excellent beer. Very sad that they are closing down the brewery.

0.33 l bottle from 'Mr. Hop', best before August 2028. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, quite fruity aroma of molasses, whisky, dark fruits, vanilla and light chocolate. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, quite fruity and rather boozy taste of molasses, caramel, whisky, vanilla, dark fruits, apple indeed, some chocolate and a touch of oak, followed by a long, moderately bitter, peppery-boozy and minimally woody finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty, unfortunately also rather boozy and a bit too fizzy. Still a treat.
