Four malts are mixed in the mash tun and deliver a graceful and sleek malty mouthfeel. A burst of delicate citrus and slight spice on the mid-palate, and Progress, which soothes the finish with a soft bitterness, while more malt comes forth to produce a delicious and lingering bittersweet character.

Cask-conditioned at the Knights Templar (JDW), Bristol 12/8/08. Amber with next to no head. Sweet malts and apricots aroma. Biscuity malt flavour with a touch of caramel and vaguely citrus hop finish. Ok.

(Cask at Harp, Covent Garden, London 30 Nov 2007) Copper colour with brief, white head. Malty, fruity nose with dark fruit and toffee. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dark fruit on a solid malt foundation, dusty hops in a fairly short finish. Nice session bitter.

Cask handpull at Thomas Ingoldsby, Spoons, Canterbury. Gold with thick lastnig beige head. Never sure in a Spoons if this is how the beer is supposed to taste. Good condition. Fine bitter, nothing out of place, but nothing remarkable either. English hops are ok, earthy, bit of tingle on end, faint citrus. Malts give mouthfeel fullness. Yeasty/citrus aroma. Fine. Re rate at ashford spoons. Better

Pours a slightly dark copper colour with a small amount of head. A fairly standard affair, slightly sweet aroma, fairly well balanced hop/malt flavours. Nothing special, but perfectly drinkable.

Cask (handpump) at The Cottage Inn, Cannington TA5. Brown beer with bubbly head. Particularly malty beer with strong contrasting flavours, there is a rich nuttiness overlaid with a light barley flavour. Good standard hoppy finish, a very decent beer.
