Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a very dark brown color with red highlights and a medium sized creamy off white head that left great lacing. The aroma was slightly bitter, woody and had a faint fruity hop note. The flavor was toasty malts, molasses, toasted caramel, dark fruits, a touch of wood and a subtle alcohol note throughout that enhanced rather than detracted. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and fairly smooth. Nice.
