Our take on an English bitter. Fruitier and paler than a traditional beer but still bitter

RERATE – at request of brewer !
Cask at Tom’s Tap, Crewe. Pours a bright light chestnut with a small frothy off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is mainly floral hops but with some nutty hints. In the mouth it is quite bitter with just a trace of underlying sweetness. Flavours are floral hops, fruits, tannin and herbs with hints of peanut butter coming later. Finish is dry and bitter. I’m still not too keen on it, but much better than the previous tasting.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a murky golden brown with a small foamy off-white head. There’s a floral aroma with added biscuits and pastry. In the mouth it is slightly bitter with floral hops, nuts and bergamot prominent. Later there are traces of vinegar, treacle, tannins and peanut butter (most of which are flavour I don’t like at all). Finish is bitter and sticky. This is definitely not for me !

To Tiny Tim, may he rest in peace. Nice bitter to go alongside Scrooge.
