Cask at Crewe Dog, Crewe. Pours a dark copper (this is a light mild), with a small scummy off-white head. Malts are the mainstay in the aroma, along with traces of treacle and spice. In the mouth itis basically sweet but with some underlying bitterness. Malts, biscuits and ginger in the flavour alongside some hints of balsam and later traces of dough and marmalade. There’s a distinct spiciness in the finish. It’s reasonable but a bit strange. Not much evidence of cookie dough and more like a bitter than a mild.
