Keg at The Rusty Bucket, Eltham. Blood orange pour with a white head. Nose is orchard fruit, toffee apple, strawberry sherbet, parma violets. Taste is bitter malts, touch of red fruit, barley sugar. Bitter malty finish.

Bottle. Hazy amber body with a thick off-white head that holds well. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of pine, red apple, rust, Swiss roll and marmalade. Flavour of earth, caramel and biscuit. Medium body with a smooth, cask-like mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A lovely beery beer. Iโve tried this three times over the years and rated it 4.1, 4.1, 4.2.

Bottle. Canโt recall where from. Bit of a murky, deep amber colour. Lovely Kernel swede. Nose has spicy rye. Some tinned strawberry. Bit of charred citrus. Taste has a soft strawberry sweetness first off, turning punchy, resinous bitter. Light to medium body is fairly oily. Fine carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. Decent.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Bottle Apostle, South Hackney. Pours lightly hazed reddish-bronze with a fluffy, off-white head. Lightly sweet with nice restrained piney character, dried caramel, toasted malts, some earthy-leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Bitter finish, more piney notes, orange rind, sun-kissed grains, toast, earth. Outrageously drinkable.
