Part of their 3900 yen Rakuten Thank You Set. 6% A nice robust Porter. It poured with a brown head and a dark black color. It’s fairly light and easy to drink for a dark beer and goes really well with a brownie. Good stuff.

Draught @ Bakushu Club Popeye, Tokyo. Rated on 05.09.2011
Aroma is light and slightly roasted with coffee. Flavour has lots of coffee and roastiness with some sugar. Dry palate, hoppy aftertaste. Good stout with lots of coffee, but the sugar and leathery palate do disturb a bit.

Draught at Popeye, Tokyo. Very black, creamy head. Roasty coffee and chocolate up front. Soft and seemless with concentrated moutfilling coffee flavour. Lightly salty finish with a touch of bitterness. Wonderfully balanced!

On tap at Popeye’s. Pitch black with a tan head, just a sliver of lace. Rich, chocolate and caramel flavor, no sour tastes. Nothing at all strange or out of balance: sweetness well balanced by burnt malt flavor. A very very good traditional Porter.

@ GJBF ’07. Roasted cocoa, malts, molasses and a reasonably noticeable hop presence for a porter. The roasted malts come on pretty strong in the flavor, chocolate, molasses, and a light fruitiness. Finishes bitter. Swan Lake makes a mighty fine porter.

quiet hoppy, with a smooth milk chocolately mouth and a solid bitter finish. Both hops and malts show their strengthen well.
