Donner Party Porter is one tasty porter that will get you through the harshest winter. This complex pint’s flavor profile includes hints of oat cakes, molasses, smooth rich dark chocolate, mocha, and espresso. That, my friends, is what we call a robust, almost historical porter, and why we say “your friends never tasted so good!”

13/6/2020. Can from Tap House, Munich. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of cocoa, dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, vanilla and charcoal. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium body, creamy texture, carbonation started quite lively but calmed after a while. Pretty decent.

Can picked up from Biervana, München, had this at home Attenkirchen Sunday 24th May 2020, listening to Bicep - Bicep. Pours a very dark chestnut brown with a little ruby hue, the head is cappuccino coloured. Nice roasty and toasty aroma. In the mouth it's roasty, smooth, a touch of sweetness, a little cocoa powder, light chocolate, a gentle dark sticky fruity tang, this is simple but very good.

Dark brown with a frothy to creamy beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate. Mild vanilla. A hint of espresso. Taste is roasted bitter with a faint sourness. The sweet, milk chocolate aftertaste provides a nice balance. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. A straight-forward porter done competently. No gimmicks or additives. Nice.

16 ounce can. Barely translucent cola brown color. Small frothy tan head. Roasted malt nose has earthy, cocoa notes. Flavor follows nose. Notes of coffee and molasses. Rich and flavorful as porters go. Subtle bitter finish hints at Baker’s chocolate.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 20A). Can 45.5 cl - Batch unknown (BBF unknown - canned on 04/01/19). AROMA: medium to medium-high roasted malt character with notes of chocolate, slight toffee-like, faint burnt, with a low sweet background. low floral-like perfumy presence. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color and opaque with slight ruby highlights. medium creamy, light brown head, with good retention. light leg formation. TASTE: similar to the aroma with initial medium roasted malt (dark chocolate, toffee-like), low fermentation esters (dried prunes). medium to medium-high bitterness with a dry, roasty (coffee) finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a very nice and complex american porter.
