5 oz. pour as part of a flight at the brewery. Opaque black, ring of head, light viscosity. Aroma roasted malt, toffee & anise. Taste is deeply roasted malt (coffee-ish), toffee, anise. Smooth texture, avg carbonation, finish as taste. Good strength/complexity for oatmeal.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a brown-black color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily to a dense film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, roast coffee and a touch of hops. The finish is chocolatey with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
