Rich, full bodied and surprisingly smooth, Imperiale Stout has a big roast hit up front. Dark malt flavors are balanced with an ample hop bitterness to finish.

Bottle: Very dark brown, topped with a finger of creamy beige head. No real lacing to speak of, but a nice beige ring throughout. Nose isn’t overly assertive, but roast and cocoa dominated. Roast, cocoa, and hops combine for a roasty and bittersweet cocoa taste. Good flavors and very drinkable. Seems a little on the lighter side (for an impy stout), but in a good way. Easily polished off the bomber solo with no adverse effects.

Bottle. Pours inky black with milk-chocolate creamy head, very light roasted malt aroma, bitter burnt taste, full body with strong kick of alcohol at the background, long finish. Surprisingly smooth for that high alcohol content, but with a long standing bitter aftertaste.

650 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with light tan head. Light aromas of black coffee and dried roasted malts. Light flavors of vanilla, dark chocolate, ash and alcohol. Cleansing carbonation. Not too impressive but will go well with minted chocolate.

Bomber. Pours a almost black dark brown color with a large tan head. A sweet nutty metallic roast nose. The flavor is chocolates, metal, coffee, some cherry, light bitterness, caramel, some smoke. Creamy and full bodied. Nice brew. Big metal and roast.

Bottle, 22oz. An almost black one, topped by a finger thick light beige head. The aroma is on the malty side, molasses, roasted, almost burnt malts and some coffee and notes of dried fruits. There’s a nice bitterness in the flavor, but I find the beer too sweet. Some faint notes of cooked vegetables too. Full body with very soft carbonation and some alcohol warmth. Lasting sweet and roasted finish. Sure a nice one, but not impressive. 130805

Bottle from Community Food Co-op - N Forest St, Bellingham, WA
Black color, with medium sized head, quickly reducing. Mild aroma of roasted malts, simple. The roasted malt flavor is strong, a bit ashy, and it also has a strong bread presence; quite strong bitterness; the body is slimmer than expected, and the mouthfeel is quite dry; the alcohol is well managed. Eventually there is some chocolate.
Not very exciting, but still a good beer.
