Rich, full bodied and surprisingly smooth, Imperiale Stout has a big roast hit up front. Dark malt flavors are balanced with an ample hop bitterness to finish.

Bottle. Dark brown with thin ecru head. Roast malt aroma. Rather faint. Medium to full bodied, malt, chocolate and roast. Not too sweet, with a slight bitter tang in the finish

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy dark tan head. Aromas of burnt malt, treacle and anise. Sweetish. Near full bodied. Fizzy carb. Flavor is pretty anise, there’s treacle, and I think a fair dose of chocolate, all backed by not quite smooth burnt malt. It’s not dry by me, but it’s finishing fairly bitter. Finally it all smooths out into a fairly soft bitter finish. Lots of taste in this.

From tap at Taphouse Grill. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malty. Alcohol, dark roasted, breadish, chocolate and light liqourice flavoured. Ends dark malty and quite bitter, warming alcohol presence.

22 oz. bottle, pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal, cocoa powder, chocolate cake and medium sweetness. Flavour is rich and velvety, with medium roasted malt, cocoa powder, chocolate cake, oatmeal, medium-to-high sugar content, and just enough hops to counteract the pronounced malt roastyness / sweetness. Very enjoyable.
